The Board of Directors of the Society for AIDS in Africa – SAA, custodians of the International Conference on AIDS and STIs in Africa, met in Accra on Monday 30th March 2014 at the SAA Headquarters in Accra. Also attending the meeting was a representative of the Local host of ICASA 2015 ATL-Tunisia

The meeting hosted at the behest of the Director of ICASA 2015 and the coordinator for SAA Mr Luc Bodea was to update the board on plans for the next ICASA 2015 slated for Hammamet – Tunisia from 8th – 13th November 2015.

In his update, the Director of the Conference indicated that over 16,000 unique people have visited the ICASA 2015 website with a daily average of 2300. This demonstrates the interest for ICASA. He assured the board about the commitment of the team to deliver an exciting ICASA 2015.

The members of the board interacted with the staff of the ICASA secretariat and encouraged them to continue their hard work and remember the millions of young people all over Africa affected in infected by HIV and AIDS.

The board went into a close door meeting to deliberate among other things recent happenings in Tunisia which has a potential of disrupting the next ICASA.

Following the meeting, the board condemned recent attacks on tourists in Tunis – Tunisia and commiserate with the victims’ families. They also expressed their satisfaction with the discussions and commitment of all to ensure the safety and security of participants of the conference.

The board is closely monitoring the situation.
