Society for Women and Aids in Africa (SWAA) Ghana is a branch of SWAA International, a Pan African Women’s organization with its headquarters in Senegal. SWAA International was born out of a conference in Stockholm, Sweden; where a few African women came together and recognized that in Africa, there was a need to focus on the NGO sector and women in the fight against HIV/AIDS.SWAA Ghana was established in 1990 and has since then been actively involved in education and advocacy programs on HIV/AIDS.SWAA is committed to reducing the impact of HIV/AIDS on women and children in Africa.

The meeting was attended by The President of SWAA GHANA, Madam Gloria Dei-Tutu and her Team with Mr Luc Armand Bodea, The Coordinator of SAA together with some members of staff. Both Parties deliberated on how a collaboration could work positively for both organizations.

However, SAA is eager to give a platform for SWAA at the upcoming ICASA and tasks SWAA to work closely with the First lady of the Republic of Ghana, Mrs. Lordina Mahama, to organize a session around Adolescents, SRHR & HIV in Africa.

SAA looks forward to a successful alliance with SWAA in the days to come.
