ICASA 2019 Solidarity Message At The 3rd Southern African Regional Students And Youth Conference On Sexual Reproductive Health (SARSYC) Zambia 2019admin
The 3rd Southern African Regional Students and Youth Conference on Sexual and Reproductive Health (SARSYC) was held from 10th-13th July 2019 at the Cresta Golf View hotel in Lusaka, Zambia.
The event organised under the theme; Plan, Prioritise and Prevent, brought together 250 students, young people, stakeholders to dialogue and share best practices on Sexual Reproductive Health Rights as well as HIV response in Southern Africa.
The Society for AIDS in Africa (SAA), the organiser of International Conference on AIDS and STIs in Africa (ICASA) was represented by its treasurer Dr. Namwinga Chintu. Dr. Namwinga Chintu on her solidarity message at the conference, recognised the contributions of the United Nations, African Union and other bilateral, regional and national organisations on policies and programmes towards youth involvement in the implementation towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
She however commended the leadership, innovation and participation of young people in mitigating the impact of HIV in Africa and highlighted the important efforts of SAYWHAT in organising the SARSYC conference
On the final note, Dr. Namwinga Chintu urged youth in the Southern African region, “to take advantage of the conference to turn the tide of HIV in the region, strong and healthy youth can only lead the development of our continent.”
